Overview
The City of Hayward is inviting applications for the position of Reserve Officer. This role is voluntary, requiring a minimum commitment of 20 hours per month. Role & Responsibilities
Law Enforcement: Perform patrol duties, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigations, and radio communication.
Field Operations: Operate a patrol car, arrest and cite law violators, write reports, serve warrants, and testify in court.
Public Assistance: Provide information and assistance to the public.
Special Assignments: Level II and III Reserve Officers may perform communication dispatch duties.
Safety Equipment: Provided at no cost to officers.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
Valid basic P.O.S.T. Certificate, or valid Level I, II, or III P.O.S.T. Certificate.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensing:
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.
Special Qualifications:
No felony convictions.
U.S. citizenship or eligible permanent resident status.
Minimum age of 21 years at the time of appointment.
Vision correctable to at least 20/30.
Successful completion of a background investigation and meeting medical, physical, and psychological standards.
