Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS)

Overview

The Hayward Police Department invites community members to join our Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) program. As a VIPS, you will support various police department functions and contribute to community safety.

About VIPS

Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) are dedicated residents who assist the Hayward Police Department across multiple departments, including:

  • Crime Prevention

  • Special Duty Unit

  • Downtown Safety Officer

  • Property & Evidence

  • Records Bureau

  • Animal Services

VIPS receive specialized training in their assigned areas. While this is a volunteer role, the experience and service you provide are invaluable to our operations.

How to Apply to be a VIPS

  3. Interview Process:

    • Participate in an interview with the Police Department.

  4. Background Check:

    • Complete a background investigation, including a no-cost fingerprint examination.
