Animal Care Attendant

Position Overview

Clean, sanitize, and maintain kennels and related areas of the Animal Services Shelter; receive, feed, care for and/or administer euthanasia to animals; assist the public in claiming or adopting animals and to do related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to experience and training that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: Six (6) months experience involving customer contact and six months experience in handling animals.
Education: Equivalent to completion of twelfth (12th) Grade or High School equivalency.
License: Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Job-Related Testing (1-Day Process)

Schedule:

8:30 AM: Check-in begins (bring photo ID)
9:00 – 11:00 AM: Physical Agility Exam (WSTB) + 1.5-mile run
11:30 AM – 2:45 PM: PELLETB written exam

Submit valid WSTB and/or NTN scores (dated within 12 months) instead.

Step 5

Eligible List

Qualified candidates will be placed on a ranked list for potential hire.

Step 6

Background Investigation

Includes fingerprinting, credit/criminal check, drug test, polygraph, and psychological/medical exams.
